Update for Jan 2020 to Apr 2020

The start of 2020 has been a busy period for 笨mummy with Child 1 starting primary 1, the shifting of the house, change of new childcare for Child 2 and the start of the work from home arrangement. Hence the lack of update for the past months. 

Finally have some time over the public holiday to catch up on the updates. Here it goes.

Update for Dec 2019

Result for 2019 is out...  total dividend for the year is 11,629.19 which is lesser than 2016, 2017 and 2018. While it is disappointing, from a cashflow aspect, things are not that bad as the interest income from high yield bank accounts helped to cushion the cashflow impact. Overall, she received an average of $490 from interests (i.e. 3.5% on 50K in her DBS multiplier account, 2.43% on 75K in her UOB One account, an average of 1.65% from esaver account and lastly from SSB.). 

Given the recent purchase of her new flat, she is expecting to incur more expenses due to renovation, stamp duty and legal fee and other miscellaneous expenses. She would expect her interest income to drop further as her excess fund would be deployed for these expenses. It is unlikely that she would be pumping in fund into the equity market until second half of the year.

Update for Nov 2019

November is a crazy month with so much things going on at home and work:

- one week of intensive training in Bangkok and a lot of catching up on work after getting back in office

- signed OTP for a resales HDB at clementi so that 笨mummy’s family can move nearer to the Child 1 primary school that is located in clementi. This was after a number of viewings at flats around that area. The paper works are still in process and there are so much to be done. 

- starting to sell 笨mummy’s current HDB that is in Tiong Bahru. This is quite emotional as this is her first property and she loves staying in this area where it is just 2 train stations away from her work place and near to the hip Tiong Bahru estate. It may be hard to move back to this estate considering that the property price for these areas are not really cheap. 
笨mummy’s Weekday evening and weekends are spent on waiting for people to come for viewings and typically she hosted 5-6 groups of “interested buyers” and average of 1-2 viewings during weekday evening. 

- settling the administrative stuff for primary school - buying textbooks, uniforms, and shoes and getting school bus, etc.

Given that it is one month away from the end of 2019, it is quite clear that 笨mummy is very off her target dividend amount set for 2019. The main reason is due to the reduction of dividend yielding shares holdings - she lost M1 due to General offer and Hyflux due to the default in bond and she reduced her holding of Mapletree NAC due to the protest in HK.

Update for Aug 2019

August is a roller coast month for 笨mummy's shares hitting record prices and then going down significantly. 笨mummy had decided to cash out some of her shares while waiting for opportunities. 

To-date, 笨mummy cashed out half of the Mapletree NAC Trust at $1.31 and planning to sell off some of these stocks that are way below its purchase prices to cut loss.

Update for July 2019

July is another quiet month with no cash inflow.  No change to the net dividend received to-date. Sometimes it makes 笨mummy thinks how things would be if she adopts early retirement and needs to depend on dividends to fund her day-to-day expenses considering that there was no cash inflow for June and July.

Update for June 2019

The update for June was late as there were a lot of stuff going on in end June. There were the staff promotion exercise, appraisal session with the staff, rushing to wrap up existing works so they can be billed in time to be captured for the end of Financial year's result.

Ascendas H Trust - $ 257.60

The dividend for Ascendas H Trust may be the second last time it would be distributing dividend to shareholders before the proposed combination of Ascendas H Trust with Ascott Trust. Overall, it is not a bad deal considering that the average price for the Ascendas H Trust that 笨mummy is holding is 80 cents (without considering dividends earned over the years) and 50 cents after deducting the dividends earned over the past years of holding it.  笨mummy holds 3,000 units from the IPO in 2012 for 88 cents and bought another 5,000 units in 2014 at 75 cents. The proposed combination would also result in 笨mummy owning more shares of Ascott Residence Trust that she already own from 10,000 units to 16,353 units.  

To prevent odd lots, 笨mummy is considering to buy some shares of Ascendas H Trust via SCB online trading platform since it has minimal commission and would make more sense to buy via the platform and then do a share transfer to CDP at a cost of $10.70 since the other platforms are charging minimum fee of at least $20 to $25.
